I Am My Ancestors' Prayer | Spoken word Film

i am my ancestors' prayer

descendants of Apsaras
daughter of the Nagas
i honor the Matriarch
i honor the tradition
but strip it down
to make it my own
this is a reclamation
of my experience
i am here
i honor my Self
i pay respects
to the Goddesses
and my Ancestors
and reground
into my knowing
the embodiment of
the Divine Feminine

i am my ancestors’ prayer

Read that again. Feel it. Let it be your story.

This is dedicated to all the Khmer folx who have experienced sexual trauma within their communities and are on the journey to reclaiming their own stories and bodies.

We come from a lineage of a Matriarchal society — resilience, strength, beauty. Our history is rich with ritual, spirit, and divinity.

In this video, I am taking off an Apsara skirt to come down and pray. It’s a statement that I don’t need the traditional garb to feel connected to the divine. My spiritual practice is personal to me. The movements of the prayer is my way of connecting to myself and the divine. This showcase is all of me. I am a Yoni healer, boudoir photographer, womxn’s mentor, wife + mom, and spiritual being. I’m here to have you dive a little deeper and tap into your shadows.

This project couldn’t have come into fruition without the help of my husband, Devyn @iamdevynsnow @studio.7117 who has witnessed me heal.
