How to Modernize Vintage Design
Creating your own opportunities allows you to design your life the way you want it. If you want something, go and get it, and that is exactly what I'm doing. I am blessed to have creative friends who inspire me to do more everyday. I create art through fashion design, graphic illustration, videography, and blogging. Fashion has always been in my genes and I'm glad to share it with the world. I love creating connections through my art.
The Creative Social Hour Facebook group was founded by myself. It is a creative hub that has opened a plethora of doors for other creative individuals. People have access to the creative world at the touch of a button. I am glad to help others with their work and thankful for others who help me with mine. I am a Minot (Seattle, of course) fashion designer and there aren't many in town. But when I get the chance to meet a fellow designer, it's makes me so happy to learn from another person in the game and get inspired.
I've worked with Eli Toledo in the past and he does an amazing job with his Canon 70D. We recently linked up again to collaborate on a photoshoot. He was able to capture my vision and expand on that with his own imagination. Two individuals kindly helped with modeling my fashion designs. Hannah is a theater major student and actress. Mackenzie is a criminal justice major student and an aspiring model. They rocked out the outfits so well. All I can say is FIERCE.
When I look to history for some fashion inspo, I always find myself browsing in the 20s era. Flapper fashion is just so fun and sexy. Fringe, jewels, and sparkle just scream at me when I think of this style. I was very excited to work with fringe trim. However, I didn't realize how messy it could get. Strands filled my work room floor just like other loose threads and scrap fabric.
My designs turned out to be more modern than I imagined, but I love it! I think the silver textile is really interesting. It has a soft look to it, yet remains edgy. I made sure to incorporate the same fabrics to both designs so it would stay cohesive. I love how each design has its own personality.
